Terms and conditions
Last updated October 8, 2026
Mister Planter is made and run by Gaurav Jain, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). These terms cover the planter, the portal at account.misterplanter.com and the Mister Planter iPhone app (“the service”). Our privacy policy says what we keep about you and how we use it.
In short: the planter waters your plant and tells you what it needs, and the AI explains its health and care, but neither is a guarantee: keep an eye on your plants. Place the planter where a leak can’t do damage. A photo analysis costs $1.70 from your account’s funds, with no subscription, and every new account starts with $25 of credit. Use the service fairly, and you can leave whenever you like.
Agreeing to these terms
After you sign in, the portal and the app ask you to accept these terms and the privacy policy. By ticking the box, or by using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address: we email you a sign-in link and a code. Or you sign in with your Apple Account, which is the account of its email address here. Keep your email and Apple accounts secure, since anyone who can get into them can sign in as you.
- You need to be at least 13 to use the service.
- Use your own email address, and keep it up to date so our emails about your planters and plants reach you.
The planter
- Set it up and use it as its user guide says, including how to charge it.
- It uses water near electronics and a battery. Place it, its water tank and its tube where a leak or an overflow can’t damage floors, furniture or anything else, and keep it away from heat and out of reach of small children.
- Your rights when you buy a planter, such as a warranty or a return, are set out when you buy it. These terms don’t take away any rights you have under consumer law.
Watering and alerts are a help, not a guarantee
The planter waters when the soil is drier than the settings say, and the portal and the app send alerts, for example when the tank is empty or the planter stops reporting. They can fail: the power or the battery runs out, the Wi-Fi drops, the tank is empty, a sensor or the pump stops working, or an email is late or lost. Check on your plants yourself, and don’t rely on the service alone to keep a valuable plant alive.
AI plant analysis and care instructions
When you add a photo, an AI service names the plant, describes its health and writes its care instructions. The AI can be wrong, about the plant itself, its problems, its care, or whether it’s safe for people and pets. Its answers are general information, not professional advice. If it matters, for example if a child or a pet may have eaten part of a plant, ask a professional such as your doctor, your vet or a poison control center.
Prices and funds
Each photo analysis costs $1.70 (US dollars), taken from your account’s funds once the analysis is done. A photo that couldn’t be analyzed costs nothing. The person who asks for an analysis pays for it; a photo analyzed by itself after it’s added is paid for by the person who added it. There’s no subscription, and everything else (My Garden, the care instructions, reminders and sharing) costs nothing.
Every new account starts with $25 of credit, once per email address: an account deleted and made again with the same email doesn’t get it again. Credit we give you has no cash value: it can’t be exchanged for money, refunded or moved to another account, and it ends when you delete your account. Without enough funds, a photo is kept but not analyzed. Adding funds is coming soon, with its own terms. We may change prices: we’ll tell you before a change, and it doesn’t change the price of an analysis already done.
Your photos and content
- Your photos, names and notes stay yours. You let us store and process them, and send photos to the AI service as the privacy policy says, only to provide the service to you and the people you share with.
- Only add photos you have the right to use, of your plants. Please don’t add photos of people.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms.
Sharing planters and plants
Everyone on a planter or a plant has the same say: they can change its settings and its people, including removing you, and they get its alerts. Add only people you trust. Up to 10 people can be on a planter.
Using the service fairly
Please don’t:
- try to get into planters, plants or accounts that aren’t yours, or sign in as someone else;
- overload or attack the service, get around its limits, or use the sign-in or Contact Us forms to send email to people who didn’t ask for it;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone.
We may suspend or close an account that does, and tell you why when we can.
Updates and changes to the service
We improve the planter’s software, the portal and the app from time to time, and some features may need the latest version. We may change or end features, or the service, and will tell you in advance when a change matters to you.
The iPhone app
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence terms for apps apply to it as well. Apple isn’t part of these terms and isn’t responsible for the app or its support: we are.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time, in the portal (My account) or in the app (Settings). Its funds go with it. We don’t delete an account by ourselves for not being used. The privacy policy says what’s deleted.
Our responsibility
We provide the service with care, but as it is and as available, without promises that it will always work or be free of errors. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, or for the loss of a plant, for water damage, or for losses caused by a failed watering or alert, an AI answer, or something outside our control. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you, and nothing here limits a responsibility that the law doesn’t let us limit.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, and the federal laws of the United States that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This doesn’t take away any protection that the consumer law where you live gives you.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we change the date at the top, and the portal and the app ask you to accept them again the next time you use them. If a change matters to you, we’ll email you first.
