Privacy policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
Mister Planter is made by Idea-Central (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the planter, the portal at account.misterplanter.com, the Mister Planter iPhone app and this website. It says what we keep, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how you delete it.
In short: we keep what the service needs to water your plants and tell you about them. We don’t sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites. Plant photos are analyzed by AI only after you say OK. You can delete your account at any time, in the portal or the app.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, and the display name you choose, if any. We email you a sign-in link and code; you don’t set a password. We keep when you signed in (the last 10 times) and when you last used the portal or the app, which the other people on your planters and plants see. We also keep your theme, Light or Dark, and whether you allowed the AI photo analysis.
- Your planters: what each planter reports. That’s its soil moisture, when its pump ran, its water tank, battery and power, the temperature of its chip, its firmware, the name and signal of the Wi-Fi network it’s on, and the internet address it reports from. Also the settings and name you give it, and its people: their email addresses, their alert choices and, if someone adds one, a phone number (for text alerts, which aren’t sent yet).
- Photos of your plants that you add, up to five a planter or plant, and what the AI says about them: the plant’s name, its health and its care instructions.
- Where a plant grows: the country, state or province, town, ZIP or postal code if you give one, and whether it’s indoors or outdoors. When you add a plant, the portal or the app can use your phone’s location once, if you allow it, to fill in the town. The position is rounded to about 100 meters and only the town is kept.
- Your home Wi-Fi password, only when you change a planter’s Wi-Fi network in the portal or the app. It’s kept until the planter says whether it joined, and for 30 minutes at most.
- Messages: what you send with Contact Us (your name, email, phone if you give it, and your message), and email you send to contact@misterplanter.com.
The AI photo analysis
When you add a photo of a plant, a third-party AI service names the plant, checks its health and writes its care instructions. With the photo it gets the plant’s name, its town and whether it grows indoors or outdoors, and the fertilizer you picked. Once a day it also gets a planter’s soil readings, to check its watering. It never gets your email, name or phone number.
The portal and the app ask for your OK before your first photo goes to the AI. You can take it back at any time under Your account in the portal, or in the app’s account menu. Without it, no photo is sent. The AI runs on our cloud provider’s servers. Under its terms, what we send isn’t kept by the AI service or used to train AI models.
How we use it
- To run the service: to show your planters and plants, water on your settings, and sign you in.
- To email you: sign-in links, alerts (for example, a plant that needs water or a battery running low), reminders you asked for, and notices about your planters and plants. You can turn email alerts off for each planter under People.
- To answer your messages, and to find and fix faults.
We don’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Who sees it
- The people on the same planter or plant see its readings, photos, alerts and settings. They also see each other’s email addresses, and when each person last signed in and used the portal.
- Our cloud provider runs the service for us: it stores the data, sends our emails, looks up towns and runs the AI. It processes the data only to provide the service to us.
- The people who answer our mail see your Contact Us messages and email to contact@misterplanter.com.
- The law: we disclose data if the law requires it.
The portal and this website load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google’s servers for them. The portal keeps your sign-in and theme in your browser’s storage, and the app keeps them on your phone. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.

Deleting your account
In the portal, open My Garden, then Your account › Delete my account. In the app, open the account menu, then Delete my account. Here’s what happens:
- You leave every planter and plant you’re on. You’re signed out everywhere, and your name, theme, AI choice and sign-in history are deleted.
- A plant that only you are on is deleted, with its photos and their analysis.
- A planter that only you are on stays, with nobody on it. Its readings, photos and location are deleted when it’s factory reset (System › Factory reset in the portal or the app), so do that first if they should go too.
You can also email contact@misterplanter.com to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it.
Children
Mister Planter isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us theirs, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security and where the data is
Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS), and photos are stored encrypted. Each planter has its own key to report with. The data is stored in the United States.
Changes
When we change this policy, we change the date at the top. If a change matters to how your data is used, we’ll email you first.
